Electrical Reliability Engineer – Fite Road, Memphis, Tennessee

About the role

Provide day-to-day technical support for Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) issues at the plant. Work closely with the Maintenance Coordinator and E&I technicians and provide engineering input on daily repairs and chronic issues. Foster communication and teamwork between operations, maintenance, and reliability groups.

Principlal Accountabilities

  • Perform all work in a safe manner in accordance with Site and Corporate policies.
  • Drive reliability excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to the plants to minimize maintenance effort, reduce maintenance costs, institutionalize world-class maintenance skills and procedures, improve availability, and improve safety.
  • Manage asset life plans and use predictive tools to improve capital planning.
  • Reduce day-to-day reactive maintenance and implement predictive and preventative maintenance practices at the plant to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
  • Redesign or replace unreliable equipment at the plants to improve reliability.
  • Analyze existing instrumentation and determine if the selected equipment is the best available for the intended application.
  • Be knowledgeable of area classification requirements.
  • Provide troubleshooting and problem solving expertise during breakdowns.
  • Identify and troubleshoot common power distribution issues such as ground faults and single phasing, and size electrical gear for new installations in accordance with current codes.
  • Support capital projects including developing scope, cost estimates, project documents, and construction bid packages. Evaluate bid proposals, select contractors, follow construction work and start up new equipment.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis as needed.

About You

Knowledge / Experience / Skills

  • B.S in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of Two (2) years of industrial or manufacturing experience preferably in the chemical, petrochemical, or refining industries.
  • Prefer Automation, Electrical, and Instrumentation experience.
  • Basic knowledge of DCS and PLC control systems architecture and programming.
  • Prefer previous working experience with industrial scale systems, mass flow meters, control valves, electrical and pneumatic actuators, position switches, variable speed drives, various level detection devices, pressure and temperature transmitters, mass flow meters, and other industrial instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of various codes, including NEC, API, ANSI, ISA, etc.

About the role

To assure the reliability of equipment at targeted levels and to repair equipment that fails in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. The job holder will strive to elevate operational uptime through preventative and predictive maintenance activities with a focus on continuous improvement.

Principlal Accountabilities

  • Promote a safe working environment by using safe work procedures daily and advising proper guidelines for the purchase, installation, and safe maintenance of mechanical equipment on the plant site.
  • Assist in diagnosis of problems to a root cause failure and facilitate repairs as needed.
  • To provide expertise to help develop reliability improvements and then assist with implementing approved projects.
  • Focus on continuous improvement to achieve reduction in downtime for mechanical activities
  • Installation, repair, and maintenance of pumps and associated equipment.
  • Installation, service, and repair of all mechanical seal types.
  • Utilize the work order system to track and complete daily job duties
  • Complete all other mechanical responsibilities as assigned by the MMA and Sheeting Maintenance Supervisors.

About You

  • Knowledge of relevant OSHA safety rules.
  • Possess the following basic mechanical skills:
    • Obtain an acceptable score on the appropriate Work Keys skill tests.
    • Three or more years’ experience in maintaining a chemical plant.
    • Able to read/interpret mechanical drawings (single line, schematic, P&I)
    • Use basic hand tools and operate basic shop tools
    • Measure, sketch, fabricate, and install threaded pipe
    • Knowledge of safe access to work including scaffolding requirements
    • Align a pump with a motor using a dial indicator instrument
    • Able to torque tighten various threaded fasteners
    • Properly use chokers to rig equipment
    • Use computer systems to research technical documents
    • Able to thread, fit, and leak test piping and devices
    • Replace seals, bearings, worn or broken components and shafts
    • Align gears, sprockets, motors, gearbox assemblies and shafts
    • Remove and replace defective assemblies or subassemblies
    • Effectively troubleshoot root cause failures/problems with pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
    • Overhaul equipment per specified technical plans
    • Maintain area, tools, and equipment in a clean, safe, and proper manner
    • Operate material handling equipment as required
    • Complete all mandatory training
    • Possess three or more of the following advanced skills
    • Code weld pipe in the 6G position
    • Perform and interpret vibration analysis
    • Qualified to inspect and repair rigging
    • Able to inspect, test, and overhaul relief devices

The Opportunity

The primary function of this position is the efficient production of electrolyte solution for lithium ion batteries. In addition, the individual will be responsible for clean room routines, operating equipment, recording and reviewing documentation, and supporting environmental monitoring routines.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Operate production equipment in the manufacturing of chemical products
  • Receive and review order instructions (Batch Records)
  • Set-up, operating and monitoring of chemical transfer equipment.
  • Initiate and control manufacturing of chemicals in vessels, including changing of raw materials, monitoring batches, keeping records and operating process equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Available for scheduled overtime and call-in overtime
  • Adheres to standard operating procedures
  • Completes production records and maintains a clean environment to comply with regulatory requirements
  • Operate, Clean and set-up processing equipment
  • Notify supervision, maintenance, or other personnel regarding equipment malfunctions and troubleshoot process issues as needed
  • Performs all job functions and responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner.
  • All other duties assigned by management

Knowledge/ Experience/Skills

  • Must possess high school education or GED, two-year degree or technical school desired
  • Must possess applicable Silver level WorkKeys scores-Applied Mathematics, Applied Technology, Locating Information, Reading for Information
  • 3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment chemical experience is a plus
  • Ability to obtain lift truck certification previous experience required
  • Must be computer literate
  • Excellent problem solving skills to resolve quality or production problems that arise
  • Technical ability to be able to anticipate problems and resolve before they occur; confidence in job knowledge to make critical operating decisions
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and a drug test with negative results, and be able to pass a background check

Physical Requirements

  • Moderate lifting, drum handling, use of stairs, ladders, tools, walking, bending, stooping, some outdoor work is required, Must be able to lift 50 Lbs.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment and adhere to plant PPE requirements.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
