Lucite International is the world leader in methacrylate materials and produces a range of high quality monomer, acrylic sheet, polymer and resin products marketed under famous brand names including Lucite® and Perspex®. Customers convert these into a diverse range of consumer, architectural, high tech and medical products. With a 25% share of the global methacrylates market and an annual turnover over US$1.5 billion, the Company employs over 2000 people at 14 manufacturing sites and 34 sales offices globally.

The majority shareholder (78%) is Charterhouse Development Capital (CDC), now a primarily Anglo-French firm, which has been investing in Continental Europe for over 30 years. With over 128 transactions worth an aggregate €38billion, and with 89% of those investments realised, CDC has a strong track record and is recognized as one of the most successful private equity firms in Europe.

CDC's philosophy is to support their investment with funds to expand and create added value. An example of this philosophy put into practice was its active support for Lucite International’s plant in China (commissioned 2005), and its on-going commitment to the rollout of the Company’s new Alpha technology (Alpha 1 under construction in Singapore due for commissioning in 2008).

CDC Director, Geoff Arbuthnott is currently Chairman of Lucite International.
