All manufacturing facilities at Lucite International use the Manufacturing Excellence (MEx) program to ensure continuous progress towards optimum production efficiencies. The program is designed to enable each site to improve and sustain the highest levels of productivity and safety.

MEx is a continuous, forward looking and proactive process based on the principle that sustained excellent performance can only be achieved with the systematic application of best practice. Best practices are identified by benchmarking within and outside the Company and by comparing Lucite International's operations with published external data. Since it began in 1995, MEx has delivered substantial, measurable value to the Company in terms of improved quality and productivity, lower costs, and increased capacity without the need for significant capital investment.

Since 1995, Lucite International has added over 50% to its effective capacity at a capital cost of less than 20% of a new brown field investment through techniques such as MEx. A key to unlocking this capacity has been the use of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) measurement, which allows us to focus on improving practices rather than investment in new equipment alone.
