Long-term commitment to delivering for our customers

As the world’s largest manufacturer of methacrylates, we have built a solid track record of delivering quality acrylic products and the highest levels of service to our customers. The Elvacite® family of acrylic resins has been used to meet the needs of customers in the coatings inks and adhesives industry from the beginning in 1945. And as the world continues to develop, we are firmly committed to long-term collaboration with our customers and partners so that together we can develop new solutions to today’s challenges.

High quality resins with built in performance

Elvacite® acrylic resins are either polymers or copolymers of methyl methacrylate or other acrylic monomers used in specialty coatings, inks, adhesives and lacquers. The Elvacite® range offers a distinctive combination of properties:

  • Outstanding resistance to ultraviolet degradation
  • Excellent weatherability
  • Superior abrasion resistance
  • Excellent resistance to water, alcohol, dilute acids and alkalis, chemical fumes, and corrosive and oxidizing environments
  • High gloss and hardness
  • Generally low pigment reactivity
  • Water-white color and transparency
  • Resistance to discoloration from heating

High quality resins backed by experience for tailored solutions

Elvacite® resins are available as minute spherical beads in grades that provide different levels of hardness, flexibility, solubility and solution viscosity. Compatibility with a variety of film formers and plasticizers allows further modification to achieve the exact properties required.

All resins in the range are thermoplastic and are thermally stable up to 177-232°C (350-450°F), well above their softening range. At higher temperatures – around 260°C (500°F) or above – they undergo smooth depolymerization to monomers, leaving negligible ash.

High quality resins that we can make work for you

Our acrylic resins feature a wide range of molecular weights, flexibility levels and different functionalities, which makes them particularly well suited for protective and decorative coatings for plastics, metals, concrete, wood and paper. We can bring our experience and technical know-how to any challenge. If you would like to know more, contact our technical team at 1-800-4-LUCITE.
